My Crown Goes Off To You

There aren't many times when a queen will remove her crown. Not for the stars that just ended their CMA awards though they work very hard and bring entertainment. Not for the Hollywooders, though they work hard too. No, not even for those who play the sports I love to watch with all the physical labor they give.

No, today my crown goes off to those men and women, wives, and husbands, who have truly done the hardest work of all. Who have left sons and daughters, home, and comfort. Stability and assurance of life as it is and has been. Like the man pictured here, those who love their country and fight for each of us. Those who have lost lives, given lives, preserved lives. To you I give great gratitude. To you I honor and respect. To you I give my deepest appreciation for my freedom. For my life. Thank you. Thank you for thinking of anyone besides yourselves as you've thrown yourselves into a whirlwind of danger and uncertainty. Thank you for leaving your comfort and life behind so that I can have mine.

My heart goes out to you and all who have lost loved ones in war. Today is for you. All of you. Thank you.
