Day #26

I love Sundays! And with a busy few months that I have coming up I look forward to the solace they will provide me.

Today I sat by someone who was sitting alone at church. Can I say that this is one of my favorite ways to serve?? I've heard/read a few different talks about this subject - that church can be a very self-centered worship or it can be a selfless worship, where you seek out "the one" at church. The one who is sitting alone, or looks down, or needs help in some way. I believe and have felt that seeking out the one makes Sunday worship richer and more fulfilling. It's very tempting for me in a singles ward to get caught up in the social aspect and look out for myself, who are my friends that I can sit by? Where are cute boys I may have my eye on? What are things that I need to get done? All things may be important... but all are centered on me. And I have found this ALWAYS helps both of us. Noone really enjoys being alone. Everyone needs a friend. That is something that President Hinckley pointed out. I'm thankful for the chance to be that friend for someone whenever I can be. And it is truly the Lord who helps me do this, so I thank Him for His help and His love and concern for all.

  2. I love it when someone sits next to me. I'm often the newbie in the ward and everyone already has their friends, so I'm no stranger to sitting alone with my baby, waiting for the hour to come to an end. The last few times it's happened I was SO appreciative. I'd been feeling so lonely and felt like no one cared that I was there. I made sure to thank those people for sitting by me. I wanted them to know how wonderful it made me feel.
