Technically today should be Day #23 - I had a little mixup with my numbering system... *clearing throat*
So what an unforgettable New Year's Eve experience!! Emily Bott, Mary Klinger, and I ran the Beat the New Year 5k in Sugarhouse and the big deal was to cross the finish line by midnight... AND WE DID IT!!! I'm beyond stoked about that. It was just so fun, a great feeling, and a SUPER awesome and unique experience! I'm so grateful we did it.
The service of the day ties into that 5k, actually. As we were walking back from the race (after crossing the finish line as they were counting down with ten seconds to go!!) we saw a truck having a hard time getting through a big chunk of the slushy/stiff type snow so we ran up behind it to give him a push. And with ALL of our women muscles... we didn't do much to help him out. Thankfully to other people walked by and came to help us push. And in our defense even with them it didn't automatically push the truck out but once we got a little rocking motion down - boo ya! He was out and going. It was fun. I don't know what it is about pushing cars out of a stuck spot, or out of an intersection when the car dies, but I've always had so much fun doing it! The best was while I was a Sister Missionary and I was in a "trio" and to see three sisters out there pushing a big jeep out of a busy intersection in our dresses! I loved the looks we got. Hopefully some of those people inquired as to what church would teach such service. ;)
Happy New Year! 2010 will bring great moments and great goodness!
